Central Arid Zone Research Institute Jodhpur
The Central Arid Zone Research Institute was founded by the Government of India in 1952 in Jodhpur in the Rajasthan. It was renamed in 1959 before renamed it was known as Desert Afforestation Research Station. The aim of the CAZRI is to find ways to changing transferring sand dunes, founding silipastoral and firewood plantations, aggregation windbreaks to reduce wind speed and subsequent erosion, rehabilitating degraded forests and beginning afforestation of barren hill sides. It has a small pictorial museum with a photographic exhibition illustrating the institute's work.
The arid zone of India empowers about 12% of the nation’s geographic field and concerns above 31.7 M HA of hot desert and around 7 M HA is under cold desert. The production and life support arrangements in the hot areas are strained by low and erratic precipitation (100-420 mm-year), high evapotranspiration (1500-2000 mm-year), and poor soil physical and fertility conditions.
